Just get right into it.”

Alex Kaznel & the Board of Directors

Pop Punk for Grownups.

Since they formed in 2023, Cincinnati-based trio Alex Kasznel & the Board of Directors have developed a sound some call “surprisingly un-whiny,” a style they affectionately refer to as "pop punk for grownups." Sonically, they’ve been compared to bands like the Smoking Popes., Weezer, the Muffs, and the Weakerthans. In 2023 they released their debut album, “Everything’s Important and Nothing Matters,” followed later that year by their 4-song EP, “Parachute.” In 2024 they released a EP, “Board Music for Bored People,” featuring 5 songs, each one minute in length. 2025 brought the release of their second full-length album, “Flightless.” That year the band won “Best Pop-Punk Act” at Indianapolis’s Punk Rock Night Awards. They began 2026 with the release of “Those Destined for Total Darkness,” an 8-song split with fellow Cincinnati local band, Maestro Murder. They also introduced their current drummer, Ohio Pete, to the lineup- joining founding members Alex Kasznel on guitar & vocals and Heather Alene on bass & vocals. In July of 2026 they released their latest EP, 5 songs entitled “The Burden of Proof,” and will tour throughout the summer to promote the record. The BoD have performed together over 200 times across 20 states and Canada. They’re a punk-rock and caffeine-fueled power-pop trio known for an energetic and light-hearted stage presence, and they back it up with lyrically-driven, complex-yet-catchy songs.
